Little Anthony joins Beach Music Hall of Fame

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - Little Anthony and the Imperials headline this year’s inductees into the Beach Music Hall of Fame.

The renowned rhythm and blues group and eight other acts were inducted in ceremonies Sunday at the Alabama Theater in Myrtle Beach.

Little Anthony and the Imperials scored hits with “Tears On My Pillow” and “Shimmy, Shimmy, Ko-Ko-Bop” beginning in the late 1950s.

They have also been nominated as part of next year’s class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Beach music is a distinctive brand of rhythm and blues associated with shag dancing and summers along the Carolina coast.
